Employment visa is required if you are taking an Employment assignment, you are granted Employment visa, effective from the date of issue. Employment visa are extendable. You will need a valid employment contract signed by both parties.
 
INDIA VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR UK PASSPORT HOLDERS:
Passport (validity for at least 190 days and two clear pages)
2 passport   photos (light background only)

Indian contract signed by both parties. The contract should have a specific clause for payment of income tax in India and salary to be shown in Indian Rupees.
All applicants applying for an employment visa are required to provide a letter from the Indian employer on their letterhead and under official company seal furnishing the following details:
A. Total number of employees working in the company in India.
B. Total number of oversees employees working (exclusive of the applicant) in the company based in India.
C. Percentage of oversees employees based in India.
Copy of the Registration papers of Company/Companies in India offering the Employment.
Declaration from the Sponsor in its Letter Head duly signed that their Company is/are IT/ITeS Company.(Required only for Company employing foreign workers in the IT sorfware and IT enabled services sector)
Declaration/Confirmation from the Sponsor in its letter Head that the Company is/are Export Oriented Unit (EOU) or an Software Technology Park of India (STPI) unit. Registration Number is required. Required only for Company employing foreign workers in the IT software and IT enabled services sector)
The Employment Visa must be issued from the Country of Origin, or from the country of domicile of the foreigner provided the period of permanent residence of the applicant in that particular county is for more than 2 (two) years. Document as proof of residence are- Utility bills (i.e. Landline telephone bills, Gas/Electicity/Water bills, Council tax, Agreement papers if residing on rent)- one current and one two years back or Indefinite Stay Stamp.
Foreigners intending to visit for honorary work (Without Salary) with Registered NGOs in India to apply for ‘Employment Visa’ are required to submit the following documents
(i) Proof of his/her Employment letter/ Invitation Letter for Voluntary Work from Registered NGO,
(ii) Name and Place of work in India and
(iii) Duration of the Voluntary Work.
Foreign engineers/technicians coming to India for installation and commissioning of equipment/machines/tools in terms of the contract for supply of such equipment/machines/tools.
Foreign nationals deputed for providing technical support/services, transfer of know-how/services for which the Indian company pays fees/royalty to the foreign company.

All columns of the application form must be correctly filled in BLOCK LETTERS and BLACK INK. Incomplete application forms will not be accepted. Suppression of facts or furnishing misleading/false information will result in denial of visa without assigning any reason. Please also check if you already hold a valid visa on the current passport before applying for a new visa, as the Visa fee once tendered is non-refundable and subject to change without notice. The Photographs submitted should be taken against a plain light background only. Applicants should make travel arrangements only after obtaining appropriate visa. And in some cases processing may take longer. Duration and the no. of entries permitted will be at the discretion of the high commission of India. .
